Moondog, a blind, bearded New York street musician who liked to wear a Viking helmet, was once an avant-garde mainstay. But in 1974 he moved to Germany, leaving his fans to wonder, is he alive and does he still compose and perform? The answers, as found on this, his first American album since 1971, are yes and yes and yes. His genius for melodies that sound familiar on first hearing is undiminished. Each one of these songs leaves you feeling just a little bit more euphoric. By the end of the album, you may need to be tethered to the floor.
